According to a previously-published story on exploreClarion.com,, Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against Greenawalt after the April 22 incident.

According to the criminal complaint, on April 22, 2016, Clarion-based State Police received an alert from the St. Marys Police Department regarding a stolen, green 2010 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle being operated by Greenawalt. It was learned that Greenawalt was staying at the Super 8 hotel off Exit 62 of Interstate 80.

The complaint indicates that Trooper Norris and Cpl. Yoder went to the Super 8 Hotel and spoke with a female who indicated that Greenawalt just left on a motorcycle to get something to drink.

The complaint states that Troopers Hageter and Wilson conducted a check of the area, and Greenawalt was located in the parking lot of Kwik Fill station on the green Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle. Greenawalt attempted to leave the parking lot onto Township Road 792 but was stopped by Trooper Hageter who had entered the parking lot.

According to the complaint, Tpr. Hageter left his vehicle to confront Greenawalt and told him to stop and shut the motorcycle off.

Greenawalt refused and then accelerated to escape from both troopers, striking the right leg of Tpr. Hageter and the leg of Tpr. Wilson with the motorcycle. He then hit the patrol car before troopers removed him from the motorcycle, the complaint continues.

Greenawalt continued to resist arrest and fought with the troopers while they placed him in custody.

For the officers’ safety, a search of Greenawalt’s backpack was conducted; it revealed items of drug paraphernalia that included a syringe and five glass smoking pipes, the complaint states.

Cpl. Yoder and Trooper Norris responded to the scene.

When Trooper Norris spoke with Greenawalt, “he observed his eyes were pinpoint and his actions showed him very agitated, upset, paranoid, and defiant, and his mood varied from crying to being verbally belligerent,” according to the complaint.

Based on these indicators, he was transported to the Clarion Hospital for the purpose of obtaining a blood test, but after several requests, Greenawalt refused being tested, the complaint states.

During the investigation, the following items were discovered:

– A Pa. registration plate covered the registration plate that was assigned to the motorcycle.

– Greenawalt’s driving privileges were suspended.

– Greenawalt did not possess a valid Class M endorsement on his license for operating a motorcycle.

Greenawalt is currently lodged at the state prison in Camp Hill.
