Sligo Sex Offender Behind Bars Again

SLIGO, Pa. (EYT) – A Sligo sex offender is back behind bars after he recently committed two Megan’s Law violations.

According to court documents, 31-year-old Jason Wayne Stewart, of Sligo, was arraigned on May 16 in front of District Judge Jeffrey Miller on the following charges:

– Failure to Provide Accurate Registration Information, Felony 1

– Failure to Verify Address/Be Photographed, Felony 3

Stewart’s preliminary hearing was rescheduled for Tuesday, May 30.

He remains lodged in the Clarion County Jail after failing to post $25,000.00 cash bail.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Clarion-based State Police, a State Parole and Probation officer went to the listed address of 153 Elliot Road, Sligo, Pa. for Megan’s Law offender Jason Wayne Stewart.

While at the residence, the parole officer was advised a relative of Stewart’s had moved him out of the residence around April 4. Wetzel checked the residence and saw that there were no personal belongings of Stewart’s at the residence showing that he was not staying there, the complaint states.

Additionally, Stewart had been fired from his job at Universal Forest Products in Parker on April 25 and failed to tell probation about the job change, the complaint continues.

On April 26, Stewart met with State Parole and Probation and did not mention the updated status of his residency and employment. Stewart also came into PSP Clarion for his annual update and did not mention the status of his residency and employment, according to the complaint.

Due to the fact that Stewart had two opportunities to update his registration after the employment and residence change and did not update it as required by law, Stewart was charged with the above listed offenses, the complaint indicates.

According to Pennsylvania State Police Megan’s Law Public Report, Stewart was convicted on April 22, 2009 on the following offenses:

– Aggravated Indecent Assault Where the Complainant is Less than 13 Years of Age
– Indecent Assault — Complainant Less Than 13 Years of Age

Stewart’s Registration Began on May 1, 2015.

It was last updated on May 15, 2017.

Stewart is listed as a Tier 3 Sex Offender which requires a lifetime registration.
