The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh issued the following Severe Thunderstorm Warning at 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, 2017:

Central Clarion County in west central Pennsylvania…

* Until 515 PM EDT.

* At 444 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Clarion, moving northeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD…Ping-pong ball-size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE…Radar.

IMPACT…People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to trees and power lines, resulting in some power outages.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

This includes Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 54 and 67.

East central Clarion County in west central Pennsylvania…

* Until 515 PM EDT..

* At 449 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Clarion, moving east at 20 mph.

HAZARD…Tornado and golf ball size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

* This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of east central Clarion County, including the following locations: Strattanville, Fisher, Shippenville and Cook Forest State Park.

This includes Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 59 and 65, and near mile marker 72.

* At 445 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. 2 t 3 inches of rain have already fallen in some areas. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include…

Clarion, Knox, Strattanville, Shippenville, Fryburg, Fisher and Leeper.
