UPDATE: State Police Say Millcreek Township Structure Fire Was Electrical

MILLCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Pa. State Police have released more details on the Millcreek Township fire that destroyed a woman’s home Wednesday afternoon in a rural, wooded area of Millcreek Township.

The Fire Marshall, Cpl. Greg Agosti, and the Millcreek Township Fire Department investigated the fire and it was determined it began in a crawl space under the home and was electrical.

Damage was estimated at $100,000. The structure and its contents were a total loss.

The fire broke out at a single-story dwelling located at the end of a long, forest road at 143 Pershing Lane.

The owner, Wendy Taylor-Chapman, had lived at the house for 19 years.

“I’m not sure what happened, but I looked up and saw the flames. I grabbed the hose, but it had burned, and I couldn’t use it,” Taylor-Chapman said. “I got the dogs out and ran to my neighbor’s house so he could call 911.”

Taylor-Chapman and her two Dachshunds, a 3-year-old and a 14-year-old, were unharmed.

The house was insured. She said that she would like to rebuild at the location and that she knew her neighbors would be very helpful to her.
