FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin man is facing drug charges following a visit to his residence by a state probation and parole officer.

According to court documents, the Franklin Police Department filed criminal charges against 30-year-old Jadan Lee McDivitt, of Franklin.

According to a criminal complaint, around 9:46 p.m. on May 25, the Franklin Police Department was dispatched to Pearl Street to assist a state probation and parole officer who reported that a drug act violation was discovered during a night time home check of one of his clients — Jadan McDivitt, who resides in his parents’ home.

The complaint states that during a search of McDivitt’s person, the probation officer discovered what he believed to be crack cocaine.

The evidence seized by the parole officer included a small metal screw top container that held five knotted baggy corners containing a white substance. “The concealment, packaging, and storage of the suspected narcotic is equivalent to methods known to be associated with the sale of controlled substances,” according to the complaint.

McDivitt was taken into custody, the complaint indicates.

The evidence was taken to the Franklin Police Department for further analysis and testing. Upon further observation, it was discovered that the substance seized was not crack cocaine but cocaine that had not been fully processed and was still in compressed form, the compliant continues.

The complaint states that around 11:20 p.m., one of the five baggy corners was cut open, and a small sample was field tested using the NIK system. A positive result was obtained, and the baggie was resealed. The weight of the baggy corners after testing ws found to be 1.5 grams.

According to the complaint, the execution of a search warrant on the entire house resulted in the discovery of the following items:

– a glass smoking pipe;
– a box of plastic bags hidden inside a stereo speaker;
– plastic baggies with the corners cut off found hidden in the closet; and
– a glass square with white residue on it located with matches and a multi-tool apparently used to cut the compressed cocaine.

McDivitt was arraigned at 3:21 p.m. on May 30 in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland on the following charges:

– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver
– Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia

Unable to post $35,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on June 7 in front of Judge Kirkland.
