Route 66 Rear-end Crash Sends Teen to Hospital

CLARION TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — A rear-end collision Wednesday evening involving two cars sent a local teenager to the hospital.

According to Clarion-based State Police, a 16-year-old Tionesta female was driving a 2015 Ford Escape south on Route 66 in Clarion Township when she failed to slow down and struck the rear of a 2010 Buick Luzerne, driven by 56-year-old Jean Guth of Oil City. Guth was trying to turn left onto Waterson Road.

The collision caused minor damage to both vehicles. All persons involved were wearing their seat belts.

Guth and a passenger in the Escape, a 16-year-old male from Hawthorn, were not injured.

The 16-year-old female was taken to Clarion Hospital for further evaluation by Clarion Hospital EMS. She was cited for careless driving.

Limestone Volunteer Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
