24-Year-Old Man to Be Sentenced on Drug, Car Theft Charges

MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A man who was found to be in possession of a stolen vehicle and drugs in Monroe Township will be sentenced on Wednesday in Clarion County Court of Common Pleas.

According to court documents, on May 3, 24-year-old William Gregory Goldberg, of Vandergrift, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of drug possession and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Goldberg will be sentenced at 9:00 a.m. on June 7 by Clarion County President Judge James Arner.

As a result of the plea agreement, the following charges were dismissed:

– Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 2
– Acquiring Or Obtaining Possession Of Controlled Substance Misrepresentation, Misdemeanor
– Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered, Misdemeanor (two counts)
– Use/Poss Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor
– False Identification To Law Enforcement Officer, Misdemeanor 3

Goldberg has previously served time in Westmoreland County for car theft, burglary, and other offenses — including drug possession.

According to a previous exploreclarion.com article, the incident occurred on March 16 when a call was received for a report of a stolen Chevrolet Cobalt in the Econo Lodge parking lot.

While awaiting a tow truck, Tpr. Shapiro noticed a man walking near the area surrounding the hotel. He walked across the parking lot and then walked into a nearby field where he attempted to fix a sign that was laying on the ground, the complaint states.

Goldberg was observed pacing for a short period of time at another business before Corporal Cloak approached in a nearby restaurant parking lot, the complaint continues.

According to the criminal complaint, Goldberg allegedly lied to police about his identity and claimed to be the brother of the individual who had stolen the car.

8efore transporting Goldberg to the Clarion-based State Police barracks, he was allegedly found to be in possession of suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia, the complaint states.
