CLARION TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Beaver Falls man has been charged with felony aggravated assault after police say he beat up his girlfriend Monday evening on South 4th Avenue in Clarion Township, Clarion County.

William Antwan Anderson, 21, of Beaver Falls, was charged with one count each of felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault, and summary harassment.

According to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday by Clarion-based State Police Tpr. Sommers, the victim told police that she engaged in a heated argument with her boyfriend, Anderson, around 8:50 p.m. Monday.

Tpr. Sommers met with the victim at her South 4th Avenue residence and confirmed several noticeable bruises. Swelling was present on her cheek and above her eye.

The victim said Anderson punched her several times and also jumped on her forearm, which may have resulted in possible fractures.

Tpr. Sommers located Anderson across the street, and he admitted he hit the victim causing serious bodily injury, according to the criminal complaint.

Anderson was arraigned Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Amy Long Turk.

A preliminary hearing is set for June 13 at 1 p.m. with Magisterial District Judge Duane Quinn presiding.

Anderson remains lodged in the Clarion County on $2,500 cash bail.
