Rimersburg Man Charged in Violent Home Invasion

BUTLER CO., Pa. (EYT) — A violent home invasion in Butler County early Thursday has left two residents battered, as well as facing drug charges, and a Rimersburg man hospitalized with stab wounds.

According to a published story on butlereagle.com, Butler-based State Police identified Patrick C. Bookwalter, 35, of Rimersburg, as the person who broke into a home on the 300 block of Petrolia Road in Fairview Township and assaulted Savannah M. Blust and Macklin C. Haye.

Blust and Haye called 911 at 12:50 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, to report that a masked intruder armed with a handgun and pepper spray had broken in and attacked them.

Haye said the attacker, Bookwalter, pepper sprayed him. Blust was awakened by the disturbance, came downstairs, got a butcher knife from the kitchen, and stabbed Bookwalter. Bookwalter then grabbed her and dragged her by the hair.

Blust escaped Bookwalter’s clutches, but later he pointed a gun at her and Haye.

Bookwalter then fled the house, and Blust saw him and two other people running away.

After the 911 call by Blust and Haye, Bookwalter called 911, reporting he had been stabbed near a bar in East Brady.

Bookwalter was taken to a hospital in Pittsburgh for several stab wounds to his head and back.

According to court documents, Bookwalter was charged by state police with felony counts of possession a prohibited firearm, burglary, robbery, aggravated assault, criminal trespass, and several other misdemeanor and summary charges.

A preliminary hearing has not been scheduled.

Bookwalter has served time in prison for burglary and theft convictions in Butler County in the past.

The two residents will also face charges as police say they discovered evidence of drug manufacturing in the house during the course of their investigation of the home invasion.

State Police obtained a search warrant of the house and discovered evidence of a THC oil and THC wax manufacturing operation. Officials plan to charge Blust and Haye with felony manufacturing variations of THC oil and wax.
