Emlenton Man Arrested for Megan’s Law Violation

SCRUBGRASS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — An Emlenton man has been charged with a Megan’s Law violation.

According to Franklin-based State Police, around 11:30 a.m. on June 9, 67-year-old James Melville Haskin, of Emlenton, was arrested at a residence along Emlenton-Clintonville Road, in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County, for failure to comply with Megan’s Law registration requirements.

A criminal complaint was filed with Magisterial District Court 28-3-04.

He was arrested and arraigned at 1:30 p.m. on June 9 before District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey on a charge of third-degree felony Failure to Register with PSP.

He is free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on June 14 with Judge Lowrey presiding.

According to the PA State Megan’s Law website, Haskin was convicted of Sexual Assault of Child on January 29, 1993.

His registration began on March 28, 2011.

He is listed as a Tier 1 Sex Offender which requires 15 years registration.
