Cranberry Grad Cyphert Signs with Marlins

MIAMI, Fl. (D9Sports) — Cranberry Area graduate Dylan Cyphert is finally a pro.

A week after being drafted in the 17th round by the Miami Marlins, Cyphert signed his pro contract Wednesday with a $125,000 signing bonus.

“This is a lifelong dream,” Cyphert said. “I’m excited to finally be a professional baseball player. I want to thank the Marlins for giving me this opportunity, and I look forward to giving the organization everything I have.”

Cyphert will report to mini-camp, which will last through Saturday, before the Marlins assign him a team either in the Gulf Coast Rookie League in Jupiter, Fla., or in the short-season Class A New York-Penn League in Batavia (N.Y.) in the New York-Penn League.
