Court Documents: Former Rimersburg Father, Son Duo Busted for Selling Drugs

  class=ROSE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Rose Township father and son face drug charges stemming from an investigation by the Jefferson County Drug Task Force.

Court documents state that criminal charges were filed against 42-year-old Michael W. Cowfer and 23-year-old Brian S. Cowfer, of Brookville — formerly of Rimersburg.

August 23, 2016 Incident

According to a criminal complaint, around 5:30 p.m. on August 23, 2016, Jefferson County Drug Task Force (JCDTF) Officer Turnbull met with a confidential informant (CI) after a controlled buy of one cut of marijuana had been established with Michael Cowfer.

The CI was given $60.00 from the JCDTF funds, and the CI and Officer Markle traveled to Cowfer’s residence on Belgiumtown Road in Rose Township, Jefferson County.

The CI stated that the sale was conducted with Brian Cowfer through his father, Michael Cowfer.

The CI and Officer Markle returned to the Brookville Police Department. Officer Markle secured one clear sandwich bag that contained what was believed to be 4.79 grams of marijuana.

According to a criminal complaint, around 4:55 p.m. on August 29, 2016, JCDTF Officer Turnbull met with a CI after a controlled buy of one cut of marijuana had been established with Michael Cowfer.

The CI was given $60.00 from the JCDTF funds, and he called Michael Cowfer, and then the CI and Officer Markle traveled to Cowfer’s residence on Belgiumtown Road, the complaint states.

The CI and Officer Markle returned to the Brookville Police Department, and Officer Markle secured one clear sandwich bag that contained what was believed to be marijuana, the complaint indicates.

Charges Filed Against Michael Cowfer and Brian Cowfer

According to court documents, the following charges were filed against Michael W. Cowfer in District Judge Greg Bazylak’s office on June 15:

– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Conspiracy — Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Criminal Use Of Communication Facility, Felony 3 (two counts)
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor
– Possession Of Marijuana, Misdemeanor

He faces a preliminary hearing at 3:00 p.m. on August 17 in front of Judge Bazylak.

Court documents indicate Michael Cowfer accepted a certified summons on June 21.

Court documents indicate the following charges were filed against Brian S. Cowfer in Judge Bazylak’s office on June 15:

– Conspiracy — Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor

He faces a preliminary hearing at 3:15 p.m. on August 17 with Judge Bazylak presiding.

According to court documents, Brian Cowfer accepted a certified summons on June 21.
