MADISON TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Rimersburg man is behind bars on attempted homicide charges after a rifle was fired during a 4th of July scuffle in Madison Township, Clarion County.

Clarion-based State Police Tpr. Manns says the incident happened around 9:45 a.m. at a private property along State Route 68.

According to a release issued late Tuesday, Dennis Golden Reesman, 60, arrived at a Rimersburg man’s home and allegedly approached him with a rifle.

Reesman then allegedly pointed the rifle at the victim, according to Tpr. Manns.

The victim grabbed the rifle, and it discharged, missing him and striking a nearby object.

The struggle continued, and Reesman fled the scene.

The victim then contacted Clarion-based State Police and reported the incident, according to Tpr. Manns.

Reesman was later taken into custody without incident at an undisclosed location.

Reesman was arraigned before District Judge Amy Long Turk and placed in the Clarion County Jail after failing to post $500,000.00 bail.

Authorities are expected to release additional details on Wednesday.
