SLIGO, Pa. (EYT) — While last week’s Sligo Fun Day at the COG Pool and Park attracted a large crowd, one guest stood out — a clown.

The clown was actually Kelly Harris, a blended casework manager in Clarion for SAM (Service Access Management) for over five years, but she’s no stranger to activities like the Sligo event.

“I also do it for the Special Needs Day at the Clarion County Fair and the Keystone Elementary Winter Carnival,” said Harris.

Harris said SAM’s lets her make appearances at events like Sligo and the Clarion CountyCounty Fair.  She likes the people she works with, including her caseload.

Her association with clowns stretches back to when she was a young girl.

“I’ve been doing this for a while,” said Harris.  “My mom got me into it when I was a kid.  She used to be the president of the League of Women Voters in Venango County, and they used to gather in the park up in Franklin every in the summer.  I used to dress as a clown for the kids.”

Asked if she knew Fleebus, the clown from New Bethlehem who appears in many local parades, she laughed and said she didn’t know him.

“I don’t do parades.”
