CAMI McNANY — JUNIOR — A-C VALLEY
Daughter of: Chris and Lacey McNany
Sports Played: Golf, Basketball, Softball. I have played traveling basketball through the Rising Stars organization & traveling softball
2016-17 Highlights: Helped the Lady Falcons to the PIAA Class 1A playoffs in basketball by averaging 7.1 ppg. In softball, helped A-C Valley to the D9 1A playoffs while hitting .623 with 18 doubles, three triples a home run and 26 RBIs.
Post-High School Goals: I plan to attend college and pursue an engineering degree. I would love to play softball when I get there.
Q&A With Cami McNany
D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in?
CM: Softball, no doubt.
D9: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
CM: My favorite game was playing in my freshman playoff game at Smethport. I was so close with all the seniors, and you could really tell this game was going to be special because nobody was ready to let that season end. It was magical and everyone felt it.
D9: Why do you play high school sports?
CM :I play high school sports to make me a better athlete and person. I truly believe high school sports teach you important life lessons that you need to be successful. I also really enjoy getting to play sports with my friends and getting to bond with them.
D9: Is there a high school player on your team or another team that you enjoy watching play? If so, why?
CM :Sydney Rankin was a captain on our team this year and I loved watching her play because no matter what she always showed up with a great, positive attitude & would give all the effort she had for as long as she needed. I have never watched someone give 110 percent for as long and as hard as she does. it is truly amazing and I hope some younger girls really begin to notice and appreciate how much she does and how hard she works for the team.
D9: When not playing sports I would rather (pick one) — Go to work, play video games, shop, hang out with friends, play pickup sports, go the movies
CM :Hang out with friends.
D9: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
CM :It might sound a little crazy, but I’d love to go to Alaska. It would be so awesome to go on a brown bear hunt with my dad & see the incredible views, especially the Northern Lights.
D9: Who has had the most influence on you as a person?
CM :My dad is always the guy that pushes me to do more and excel. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t go the extra step and go above what I should. he doesn’t do it just in sports, but life as well. he is always challenging me to do more and be better which I will forever be grateful for.
D9: What do you like most about growing up in your hometown?
CM :Our town is so small everyone knows everything especially about games. I know I’ve been walking into our little town store, and someone will stop me and say good job at the plate last night I saw you went 2 for 3 or whatever I was that night. it is truly special to see how many people follow the games even if they can’t attend.
D9: What do you wish you could change about growing up in your hometown?
CM :I would like our sports teams and community to be more involved with each other.
D9: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
CM :What do you plan on doing to help your team better themselves next season? — Definitely, work on my skills and fundamentals, but work on becoming a better teammate to push all the girls on the team to not only better themselves for themselves but the girl that stands beside her as well.
D9: Do you or have you had any siblings or other immediate relatives who have played high school sports?
CM :Yes, my sister has played high school sports, and I was stoked I got to play with her my freshman year.
