KINGSLEY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Marienville-based State Police say a motorcycle accident occurred late Saturday afternoon on State Route 666, east of Old Kellettville Road, in Kingsley Township, Forest County.
According to police, around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, a 2007 Yamaha, Model XVS1300CT, was traveling west on Route 666. The motorcycle was approximately 1/2 mile east of Branch Bridge Road when a deer jumped onto the roadway into its path.
The operator — 61-year-old William J. Fuhrman, of Erie — was unable to avoid a collision with the deer and struck it. The motorcycle slid on the roadway causing 34 feet of scratches on the road, police say.
Fuhrman and his passenger — 68-year-old Nancy K. Brown, of Erie — were flown from the scene by STAT MedEvac to Hamot Regional Medical Center in Erie.
Fuhrman suffered suspected minor injuries.
Brown suffered suspected serious injuries.
Neither occupant was using a helmet.
Tionesta Volunteer Fire Company, Tionesta EMS, Clarion County Emergency Services, Forest County Sheriff’s Office, and STAT MedEvac assisted at the scene.
