Clarion Man Facing Jury Trial on Child Sex Charges

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion man accused of sexual exploitation of children after he allegedly propositioned a woman to perform sexual acts on a young boy is scheduled to go to a jury trial at the end of August.

According to court documents, trial dates of August 30-31 have been set for 29-year-old Johnny L. Pennington, III, of Clarion, in Clarion County Court with President Judge James G. Arner presiding.

Pennington faces the following charges:

– Criminal Solicitation — Rape of Child, Felony 1
– Sexual Exploitation Of Children Offense Defined, Felony 2
– Endangering Welfare of Children – Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Misdemeanor 1

Pennington remains lodged in the Clarion County Jail on $25,000.00 cash bail.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint filed by Clarion-based State Police, Clarion Children and Youth Services (CYS) contacted State Police on November 22 advising they had received a phone call from a known woman who stated that Pennington had propositioned her to perform oral sex on a 7-year-old boy while he watched.

The known woman stated that Pennington sent her a snap chat message detailing what he wanted to watch her do and that the thought of it brought him sexual pleasure.

The known woman showed police a screenshot of the snap chat message from Pennington. The known woman stated that “she knew without a doubt that the message came from him.”

Police viewed the message that was sent, and it was confirmed that Pennington asked the known woman to perform a sexual act on “(a juvenile boy) and that he would get pleasure from watching.”
