Roofer Electrocuted to Death in Emlenton After Ladder Touches Power Lines

EMLENTON, Pa. (EYT) — One man was killed and another hurt Thursday when a ladder they were using came in contact with electrical lines in Emlenton Borough.

The accident happened Thursday afternoon on Walnut Street in Emlenton Borough.

According to Clarion County Coroner Terry Shaffer, 33-year-old Charles Rupp, of Parker, and another man were working on a roofing job, and as Rupp was taking down the ladder, it touched power lines, and they were electrocuted.

Both men were taken to the Clarion Hospital Emergency Room.

Mr. Shaffer pronounced Rupp deceased at 1:50 p.m. The cause of death was determined to be electrocution.

The other worker, whose name has not been released, suffered burns. His condition is unknown; however, Mr. Shaffer believed that the injuries were not life-threatening.
