Julia Evans Rogers

Julia Evans Rogers, 82, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, August 3, 2017, at White Oak – North Grove. Judy as most knew her, was born in Franklin, PA on October 6, 1934, the daughter of the late Eldridge D. and Ruth V. Evans.

Judy was a 1952 graduate of Rocky Grove High School in Pennsylvania. After a short period working at the Joy Manufacturing Co. and Polk Center, she attended Indiana College of Pennsylvania where she attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. After graduation, she moved to New Jersey where she was employed for 35 years as a high school business education teacher. During that time she attended Montclair University part-time, attaining a Master’s Degree in Business Education. She retired in the late 1990’s and enjoyed her free time traveling through many states and Europe with her sister, and just staying home, playing her piano, and caring for her several beloved cats. Judy will be missed by her brother and her longtime friends in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Survivors include her brother, James “Jim” Evans and his wife, Martha of Moore, SC; nieces, Brenda Browy of Columbia, SC and Ann Starrs of Kittrell, NC and nephews, Kent Evans of Columbia, SC and Christopher Starrs of Black Mountain, NC. In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Starrs.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter, 125 Municipal Blvd., Edison, NJ 08817.

Services will be held at a later date.
