CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — The Dancer’s Studio is hosting a dance intensive Saturday, August 12, to Monday, August 21.

Visiting dance instructors are Kate Harpootlian, Channing Cooke, Rory Freeman, and Jason Marquette. These professional dancers, choreographers, and teachers will be teaching various classes that will be open to the community as well as choreographing dances for Dancer’s Studio Competition Team for the upcoming competition season.
Kate Harpootlian, who splits her time between New York City and Los Angeles, specializes in teaching master classes in contemporary, improvisational techniques, body alignment, and strengthening. In addition to many stage, film, and commercial credits, she has most notably appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars, and appeared in Carrie Underwood’s music video “Something in the Water.” In addition to teaching classes in body alignment, technique, and contemporary at the Dancer’s Studio Intensive, Kate is choreographing a solo and a contemporary group.
Channing Cooke, who just finished her tour with Shaping Sound, has worked with the Dancer’s Studio dancers before and will return with her strong background of technique and training in all styles of dance that include ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, and acrobatics.
Her many dance credits include So You Think You Can Dance, All the Right Moves, “The 82nd Annual Academic Awards,” Dancing With the Stars, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She also has worked with such artists as Jennifer Lopez, JoJo, and Florence + The Machine. In addition to teaching classes in contemporary, technique, at the Dancer’s Studio Intensive, Channing is choreographing two solos and a group.
Rory Freeman, who just finished touring with Travis Wall’s Shaping Sound on the new show “After the Curtain,” comes to the Dancer’s Studio with a wide repertoire of experience that include film, television, and many stage credits as well as appearing in various music videos and working with artists such as Taylor Swift and Paula Abdul.
Receiving a BFA in Modern Dance, he has an extensive background in all styles of dance that includes contemporary, jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, and modern. He also actively serves as a judge at various national dance conventions and competitions. In addition to teaching classes in contemporary and technique at the Dancer’s Studio Intensive, Rory is choreographing two solos and a group.
Jason Marquette, a much-sought-after choreographer, teacher, and performer, returns to the Dancer’s Studio bringing with him a reputation of fun, challenging, energetic, and inspirational classes and choreography with his unique teaching style.
He has taught all over the United States and in the international markets with his choreography showcased on the professional stage. He has choreographed everything from full-length musicals to music videos to industrials. In addition to teaching classes in tap, jazz, musical theatre, and technique at the Dancer’s Studio Intensive, Jason Marquette is choreographing four tap solos, two duos, and two groups.
The Dancer’s Studio, as part of its dance education philosophy, prides itself on offering unique dance opportunities to its students throughout the year and exposing their students to professional dancers, dance teachers, and choreographers habitually. This year’s dance intensive was made possible through the combined efforts of the Dancer’s Studio’s ownership, management, and DS family parents, and through the financial support of more than 100 local sponsors.
The studio is offering over thirty classes to include tap, contemporary, technique, and musical theatre. Classes are open to the public for children 10 to 18+. Children/young adults must have dance experience.
