Q&A With Rachel McCauley

D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in?
RM: Softball

D9: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
RM: My favorite memory has to be from this year. Cranberry was playing Clarion-Limestone in a double header and I hit two two-run home runs in each game. It was so great to see how happy my teammates were for me.

D9: Why do you play high school sports?
RM: I play high school sports because being able to manage your academics and having practices/ games teaches you how to manage your time well. It also teaches you to work together with other people. It is also a lot of fun to just go out and play with your friends.

D9: Is there a high school player on your team or another team that you enjoy watching play? If so, why?
RM: Personally, I enjoy watching my team play together and how much better we get from game to game. I love watching us have fun while winning games. We have a bigger team and it’s awesome to have a loud dugout always cheering you on.

D9: When not playing sports I would rather (pick one) – Go to work, play video games, shop, hang out with friends, play pickup sports, go the movies
RM: When not playing sports, I would hang with my friends. It keeps your mind off of school and your activities for awhile.

D9: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
RM: If I could go anywhere in the world, I would probably go to Australia because I would love to explore and see all of the different cities and animals they have there.

D9: Who has had the most influence on you as a person?
RM: My mom has had the most influence on me as a person because she is my number one supporter and comes to every single game. If I have a bad game, she always finds a way to cheer me up. She has molded me into the person I am today.

D9: What do you like most about growing up in your hometown?
RM: I like how all of my classmates and I have played sports together growing up and now we still continue to play high school sports together. It is nice to see us still supportive of each other as we have gotten older.

D9: What do you wish you could change about growing up in your hometown?
RM: I would like to see in my hometown more people getting involved in sports. Also, more activities to do with your family and friends.

D9: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
RM: How many years have you played your sport? This year will be my 12th year playing softball. I have also played travel ball competitively in Pittsburgh for five years.

D9: Do you or have you had any siblings or other immediate relatives who have played high school sports?
RM: My brother, Timmy, participates in wrestling.
