Curve Rally Past Fisher Cats

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Altoona Curve rallied tie the score in the ninth and pulled ahead in the 10th to beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 6-5, on Sunday afternoon at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

The Curve (65-60) took two of three games in the series against the Fisher Cats (50-75), with both wins fueled by late comebacks.

Down by two runs in the top of the ninth inning, Jerrick Suiter clubbed a two-run double to even the score at 5-5 against Fisher Cats closer Andrew Case.

In the top of the tenth, Jin-De Jhang doubled to open the inning and came in to score on a two-out single by Cole Tucker off of Jose Fernandez (Loss, 1-1), putting the Curve in front, 6-5.

Tanner Anderson (Win, 9-8) worked a 1-2-3 bottom of the tenth to cap the victory. He worked two scoreless innings overall in his outing.

With two outs and two on in the bottom of the eighth, Emilio Guerrero hit a go-ahead, two-run double to give the Fisher Cats a 5-3 lead against Sean Keselica.

The Curve struck for two runs to open the scoring in the fourth. With two outs, Elvis Escobar doubled to bring in Anderson Feliz and Michael Suchy to put the Curve ahead, 2-0.

New Hampshire answered immediately in the bottom of the inning. Anthony Alford led off the inning with a double and came in to score on a single by Lourdes Gurriel. Gunnar Heidt tied the score at 2-2 with an RBI single to bring in Reese McGuire.

A pair of former Curve players struck as the Fisher Cats took a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning. Harold Ramirez reached on a one-out single and scored on a double by McGuire.

The Curve evened the score in the top of the seventh inning. With the bases loaded, Pablo Reyes walked to bring Escobar across the plate and even the score at 3-3. Shane Dawson worked a double-play groundout from Jerrick Suiter to keep the inning to just one run.

Curve starter J.T. Brubaker worked seven innings and allowed three runs with five strikeouts.

The Curve continue the road trip with the first of three games in Hartford on Monday night. Left-hander Brandon Waddell (2-3, 4.37) will be on the mound for the Curve, opposed by lefty Jack Wynkoop (5-8, 4.53) for the Yard Goats.
