The Curve (67-60) moved back into sole possession of first place in the Eastern League Western Division, holding off a late charge from the Yard Goats (58-69).

With two outs and two runners on base, Cole Tucker hit a two-run triple to center field to put the Curve ahead, 2-1, in the fifth. Justin Maffei followed with an RBI single and Pablo Reyes added a two-run homer, his 10th of the season, to push the Altoona lead to four.

Hartford brought in three runs in the bottom of the sixth to close within one, starting with a Drew Weeks solo homer.

Jake Brentz pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning. Yeudy Garcia (Save, 3) worked through the eighth and ninth innings with four strikeouts.

Hartford opened the scoring in the first inning when Curve starter Mitch Keller (Win, 1-1) allowed a single and issued three walks, including a bases-loaded free pass to Stephen Cardullo. Keller stranded the bases loaded in the frame.

Making his fourth Double-A start, Keller worked five innings and allowed four runs (two earned) with six strikeouts.

Jordan George went 3-for-4 and scored a run.

The Curve look to pick up a three-game sweep and pick up their fourth straight win in the road trip finale on Wednesday night. Right-hander Alex McRae (9-5, 3.70) will be on the mound for Altoona, with right-hander Ryan Castellani (8-11, 5.11) pitching for Hartford. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Dunkin Donuts Park in Hartford.
