CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — A national retailer specializing in household tools and equipment will open soon in the former Staples office supply store in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to Township Code Enforcement Officer Koah Pentz, Harbor Freight Tools is set to open in late fall.

“It’s going to be great for the area,” Pentz said. “They don’t directly compete with any other business we currently have.”

Pentz said the old Staples building located along Route 322 is undergoing more than $200,000.00 in renovations and $37,000.00 in signage.

Harbor Freight began as a small family-owned business in 1977.

It offers hand tools and generators, air and power tools, shop equipment, automotive tools, welding tools, lawn and garden supplies, and even pet supplies.

Harbor Freight has more than 650 stores, including Erie, Butler, Altoona, DuBois, and Johnstown. The DuBois store opened earlier this year.
