Venus Man Escapes Injury in Crash on Route 208

ELK TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police say a one-vehicle accident occurred on Thursday afternoon on State Route 208, in Elk Township, Clarion County.

According to police, around 12:20 p.m. on August 24, a 2007 Dodge Dakota, driven by 67-year-old Benjamin F. Lipps, of Venus, was traveling north on Route 208 and failed to maintain its appropriate lane of travel. The vehicle exited the east side of the roadway south of Clark Road and struck a large boulder. The vehicle came to a final rest on the east side of the road facing north.

Air bags were deployed for the driver’s seat.

No injuries were reported. Lipps was using a seat belt.

The crash caused disabling damage to the Dodge.

Lipps was charged with a traffic violation.

Shippenville Elk Volunteer Ambulance Company responded to the scene.
