CLARION, PA. (EYT) — A Strattanville man is accused of aggravated assault and related charges following an altercation at a bar on Main Street in Clarion.
According to court documents, the Clarion Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 33-year-old Shawn Allen Limrick, of Strattanville.
According to a criminal complaint, around 10:39 p.m., on Thursday, September 7, Clarion Borough Police Officer O’Neil was on stationary patrol at the Clarion County parking lot beside the Courthouse on Main Street. He received a report of a male bleeding at the entrance to a convenience store located nearby.
Officer O’Neil spoke with the male victim who was holding his right hand in his shirt that had a lot of blood on it. The victim stated that he was involved in a fight at a nearby bar and that a white male had stabbed him in the hand, the complaint states.
Officer O’Neil observed a cut on two of the victim’s fingers and advised him to hold firm pressure on the fingers to get the bleeding to stop. He contacted Clarion OES and requested an ambulance to respond to the scene, the complaint indicates.
The victim explained that the fight was over President Trump, according to the complaint.
Clarion Hospital EMS arrived on the scene and transported him to the Clarion Hospital ER.
A known, male witness to the fight approached the scene and stated that the fight was with a white male. The witness stated that “there were two other Mexican males also outside the bar. He attempted to break up the fight and get the white male to go inside the bar,” the complaint continues.
The witness also stated that the victim swung at the known man while he was attempting to break up the fight, the complaint indicates.
The witness went inside, and a short time later, the known man came inside and stated that it was taken care of and that the men ran away, according to the complaint.
Clarion Borough Officer Maxwell, who was assisting at the scene, entered the bar and located the suspect — identified as Shawn Limrick. A black and green CRKT pocket knife was seized from him, the complaint states.
Although Limrick denied fighting anyone, the witness identified him as the individual who was involved in the fight, the complaint indicates.
When Limrick was advised to stand up and put his hands behind his back, he refused. Both officers grabbed Limrick’s arms and attempted to place him in handcuffs. Limrock flexed his arms and was uncooperative while stating that he didn’t do anything, according to the complaint.
When Officer O’Neil withdrew his taser from the holster, Limrick complied with the orders to put his hands behind his back. He was then handcuffed and placed in the back seat of the patrol unit and transported to the Clarion Borough Police Station.
The pocket knife that was confiscated from Limrick appeared to have blood on the blade and was placed into evidence, the complaint indicates.
Officer Maxwell spoke with the doctor who stated that “he believed a possible artery had been cut in the victim’s fingers,” according to the complaint.
Based on the investigation, Limrick was arraigned at 1:25 a.m. on September 8 in Magisterial District Judge Duane L. Quin’s office on the following charges:
– Aggravated Assault, Felony 2
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Disorderly Conduct Engage In Fighting, Summary
– Public Drunkenness And Similar Misconduct, Summary
Unable to post $50,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on September 19 with Judge Quinn presiding.
