VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a one-vehicle crash occurred early Saturday morning on Franklin Street (State Route 308), in Clintonville Borough, Venango County.

According to police, this crash occurred around 12:33 a.m. on September 16 as a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north in the northbound lane of State Route 308.

Police say the driver — 76-year-old Henry G. Thomas, of Boyers (Butler County, Pa.) — failed to negotiate a right-hand curve in the roadway and the Silverado crossed the southbound lane of Route 308. It then traveled in a northwestern direction off the west edge of the road and into a yard located west of Route 308. The vehicle’s bumper then had an initial impact with two concrete sidewalk pillars located west of the roadway. After impact, the vehicle continued to travel in a northwest direction and the vehicle’s front bumper had a second impact with a tree located approximately 12 feet west of Route 308. The vehicle came to a final rest at the second impact point.

Thomas was transported to UPMC Presbyterian for suspected serious injuries.

He was not using a seat belt.

Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department, Emlenton Ambulance, and STAT MedEvac assisted at the scene.

No other information is available at this time.
