UPDATE: Police Chase Ends in Crash on Route 66; Suspect Taken into Custody

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — Route 66 was shut down following a police chase that ended in a crash just south of Clarion Sunday evening.

According to Clarion County 911, the call came in at 6:50 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle accident, approximately four miles south of Clarion, in the area of Forest Drive.

The crash occurred following a pursuit involving multiple units from Clarion Borough Police and Clarion-based State Police.

Following the crash, a male suspect was taken into custody and lodged in the Clarion County Jail. His name has not been released.

A representative with Clarion-based State Police declined to comment on the incident.

Route 66 re-opened around 8:30 p.m.

Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, Clarion Hospital EMS and Limestone QRS (Quick Response Team) were also called to the scene.
