Clarion Girls’ Soccer Team Wins Nini Manfredo Tournament Saturday; Redbank Second

DUBOIS, Pa. (D9Sports) -The Clarion High School girls’ soccer team won the Nini Manfredo Soccer Tournament at DuBois Central Catholic Saturday by beating Redbank Valley, 3-0, in the championship game.

Alex Hannold scored a late first-half goal for the Lady Cats to give them a 1-0 halftime lead over Redbank Valley and then Hannold added another goal after the break as did Megan Stahlman.

Clarion advanced to the championship match by beating Punxsutawney (3-0) and Franklin (7-0) in Pool B play.

In the win over Punxsutawney, Stahlman had two goals and Hannold added one.

The victory over Franklin saw Hannold notch a hat trick, Alish Nagy score her second goal of the season, Wendy Beveridge score twice and Ava Cherico pick up her first tally of the year.

Beveridge teamed with freshman Cait Murtha to produce three shutouts on the day. Beveridge earned Defensive MVP honors and Hannold offensive MVP honors.

Redbank Valley got to the title game by beating DuBois Central Catholic (3-2) and Curwensville (5-4 on penalty kicks).

In the win over DCC, Kalyn Kunselman scored twice and Haley Minich added a tally.

Scoring in the win over Curwensville were Zoie Stewart, Emma Reddinger, Molly Nolf and Brooke Eberle.
