Clarion’s Sheesley Named PSAC Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — After scoring a pair of game-winning goals to give Clarion their best-ever start to PSAC play, McKenzie Sheesley was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women’s soccer Athlete of the Week for Sept. 25.

Sheesley lifted Clarion to a pair of wins last week, notching the game-winning goals against IUP and Mansfield to the put the Golden Eagles over .500 at the latest point of the season in program history. Sheesley tallied the game-winner against the Crimson Hawks in the opening minute on Friday, her first goal of the season. The defense made it stand up as Clarion shut out IUP for a 1-0 PSAC road win. They returned home to host Mansfield, and again Sheesley was the difference, with the senior potting her second goal of the season against the Mountaineers late in the second half.

The Golden Eagles have benefited from the play of Sheesley and others during the 2017 season. Clarion is over .500 after 10 games for the first time in school history and is already just one win shy of the program record of six set during the 2006 season.
