Commissioners Proclaim Recognition of 500th Clarion Bobcat Football Win

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — The Clarion County Commissioners officially recognized the 500th win of the Clarion Bobcats Football Team this week with an official proclamation, just in time for the planned celebration of the win following this Friday’s game at the Clarion University Memorial Stadium.

The Bobcats recorded its 500th win last week against the Keystone Panthers, and the celebration of that win takes place after tonight’s contest with Moniteau at 7:00 p.m.

Commissioners Ted Tharan, Wayne Brosius, and Ed Heasley unanimously approved the proclamation.  The winning record stretches back to 1927 under the direction of many head coaches including Norm Zwald, Ray Austin, John Reisch, and Larry Wiser.

The current coaching staff includes Wiser; assistant coaches Scott Miller, Nate McClaine, Lee Weber, and Donnie Skunda; ninth grade coach Dan Alderton; seventh and eighth-grade coach Jess Quinn; assistant coach Randy Cathcart; and volunteers Ray Burkhart, Kevin Slike, and Vance Slike.

Commissioners also proclaimed October as Domestic Violence Awareness month.

Jamie Lefebvre, president of the Redbank Valley Chamber of Commerce, was appointed Hotel Tax Committee for a three-year term. The committee makes recommendations for spending the hotel tax collected at all Clarion County hotels, primarily in and around Clarion and Cook Forest.

In other business:

• Approved multiple contracts on behalf of Children and Youth, including Kids Count Family Psych, Pentz Run Youth, Inc., Service Access Management, Family Psychological, Shamrock Solutions, and NHS of Pennsylvania.

• Multiple contracts on behalf of Mental Health, including The ARC of Venango, Roads to Recovery, Mental Health Psychiatric, and Center for Community Res.

• The next meeting of the Commissioners and Salary Board is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. in the large conference room in the Main Street Administration Building.
