CLARION, Pa. — Country music Hall Of Fame member and long-time Grand Ol Opry member Connie Smith will be the guest and spotlight artist on this weekend’s Saturday Morning Classic Country Show on Clarion radio station WWCH.

Smith is considered by many in the country music industry to be one of the most iconic female singers in the business with her powerful emotional singing style. She was a homemaker living in Ohio not too far from Clarion, Pa., when she recorded one of Bill Anderson’s songs at his urging after he heard her sing at a talent contest. The song was “Once A Day,” which hit #1 on the Billboard country chart in 1964 and became the #1 song of that entire year. She followed up with over forty more hit records through the end of the seventies, including “Ain’t Had No Lovin’,” “Just One Time,” and Cincinnati, Ohio.” You’ll hear these and many more of her classic records on this weekend’s program.

Saturday Morning Classic Country Show host Wayne Brosius said, “I’m excited to have Connie on the show to talk about how she broke into the entertainment business with very few connections, her many hit records, and an update on her life with fellow country singer and husband Marty Stuart.”

To listen to the interview and music segment with Connie Smith, tune into your radio at AM 1300, or if you don’t have a radio or have poor reception, listen to the live stream at www.c93radio.com by clicking onto the WWCH button on the homepage. The Connie Smith spotlight segment will begin at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30th.

Next week, another high-profile, nationally-known guest will be on the locally-produced radio show as Kieran Kane, one-half of the popular 80’s duo, The O’ Kanes, appears on The Saturday Morning Classic Country Show.
