Knox Borough Police Help Families in Need with Fill-a-Car Event

KNOX, Pa. (EYT) – On Monday afternoon, the Knox Borough Police Department kicked off its Fifth Annual Fill-a-Car event at Tom’s Riverside in Knox.

Knox Borough Police Chief Jason Bowen and Officer Joab Orr collected donations of food and other non-perishable items to give to the Knox Caring Cupboard, an organization that helps families in need.

Knox Borough Police Chief Jason Bowen told exploreClarion.com, “We’re getting great community support today. We had one donation that totaled about $200.00. It was a Ford SUV loaded with groceries.”

“We want to give a big shout out to Tom’s Riverside for allowing us to use their parking lot,” Bowen said. “People could just go in and buy some groceries and bring them out and load them in our vehicles.”

Former Chief Jeff Prugh started the event, and Chief Bowen was glad to continue it.

“We all agreed, we’ve all been in tough situations before and a little helping hand can go a long way,” Bowen said.

Bowen said financial donations, cash or checks, should be made to the Knox Caring Cupboard, which is located at the Edensburg Presbyterian Church at 405 Main Street, Knox, PA 16232.
