With Pitt down 10 late in the third quarter following a 39-yard Daniel Jones to T.J. Rahming touchdown pass, Hall went a school-record 92 yards from scrimmage to get the Panthers (3-5 overall, 1-3 ACC) make within three. He then scored from four yards out with 10:48 left to put Pitt in front for good, 21-17. Hall also opened the scoring with a 79-yard touchdown run.

Behind Hall, Pitt had a season-best 4865 yards including 336 on the ground.

While Pitt, which entered the game 113th in the nation in rushing with 113.7 yards per game, was going to the ground, Duke (4-4, 1-4) went to the air.

Jones finished the day 15 of 33 passing for 272 yards and two touchdown passes, both after halftime, also hitting Shaun Wilson with a 58-yard toss but it wasn’t enough to keep the Blue Devils from losing their fourth straight.

But, after Alex Kessman had put Pitt up seven with a 45-yard field goal with 1:41 left, Jones was able to move Duke into Pitt territory only to see his final pass bounce off the hands of Daniel Helm and into the arms of Jordan Whitehead for a game-sealing interception with 45 seconds left.
