Clarion U. Women’s Cross Country 15th of 18 at PSAC Championships

CALIFORNIA, Pa. — The Clarion cross country team competed at the PSAC Championships hosted by California (Pa.) Saturday, with the Golden Eagles placing 15th in the 18-team field with a score of 366.

Edinboro won the championship with a score of 87, two points ahead of Shippensburg. Only Pitt-Johnstown, Millersville and Cheyney were behind the Golden Eagles in the team standings.

A pair of freshmen were the top finishers for the Golden Eagles, with Allison Gates leading the team in the 6K race finishing 24th overall (24:06.8). Haley Schaller was the second Clarion athlete to cross the line, taking 74th overall with a time of 25:49.

Letizia Collini recorded a time of 26:15 to finish 87th overall and third on the team, while Breanna Leidy finished just two spots behind her with a time of 26:31. Rounding out the top five was senior Megan Schwerzler, who finished her final PSAC Championships race with a time of 26:37.4. Danielle Stoner and North Clarion graduate Kayce Bobnar finished the scoring for Clarion by taking sixth and seventh, respectively, amongst their teammates.
