Knox Man Accused in 2001 Child Rape Case; Charges Pile Up as Four Victims Have Now Come Forward

BEAVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Rape and other related charges were filed Tuesday afternoon against a Knox man who is now facing a total of 59 charges in two separate sexual assault cases dating back to 1997.

On Tuesday, October 31, Clarion-based State Police filed the following charges against 33-year-old Chad Aaron Renninger:

  • Rape/Person Less Than 13 Years of Age, Felony 1
  • Aggravated Indecent Assault/Person Less Than 13 Years of Age, Felony 2 (2 counts)
  • Sexual Assault, Felony 2
  • Statutory Sexual Assault, Felony 2
  • Indecent Assault Person Less Than 13 Years of Age, Misdemeanor 1 (6 counts)

The charges stem from incidents that allegedly occurred between 1997 and 2001.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Clarion-based State Police Tpr. Katherine Berggren, one of the victims participated in a telephone interview on February 25, 2017.

During the interview, the victim stated that she was sexually assaulted by Renninger multiple times during a four-year period starting when she was 8-years-old and continuing until she was 12-years-old.

The criminal complaint states that the victim also told police she was “held against the wall of a second-story bathroom” while Renninger forcefully engaged in sexual intercourse with her.

Renninger was 17-years-old at the time.

On April 2, 2017, another victim was interviewed at the State Police barracks in Clarion.

The victim described “acts of indecent assault” during the interview, the criminal complaint said.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim stated she was descending into a pool at Renninger’s residence when he touched her inappropriately.

The victim was 7-years-old when the incident allegedly occurred, and Renninger was 16-years-old.

Renninger was arraigned Tuesday afternoon before Magisterial District Judge Amy Long Turk.

A preliminary hearing is slated for November 21 at 11:30 a.m. with Judge Long Turk presiding.
