KC’s Pennington Medals; Clarion Boys’ Cross Country Finishes 12th at PIAA Championships;

HERSHEY, Pa. (D9Sports) — The Clarion boys’ cross country team finished 12th out of 18 teams at the PIAA Class 1A cross country championships Saturday in Hershey, Pa..

Meanwhile, Karns City’s Rebecca Pennington earned a medal in the Class 2A girls’ race by finishing 19th in a time of 19:44.

BOYS’ CLASS 1A RACE

Clarion, which finished second in District 9, finished 12th with 316 points four points ahead of Marion Center and 11 points back of Mahony Area. District 9 champion Elk County Catholic was second with 95 points. Penns Valley won with 65 points.

The Bobcats top runner was Nathaniel Lerch who finished 69th in a time of 17:54. Nich Schill was 95th (18:14), Noah Schill was 138th (18:52), Frank Weber was 153rd (19:04), Donnie Cunningham was 167th (19:19), Daniel Ketner was 172nd (19:25) and Jacob Smith was 181st (19:44).

Clarion-Limestone’s Andrew Forrest was 122nd (18:32) and Keystone’s Dawson Steele was 149th (19:01).

District 9 had two medalists in Elk County Catholic’s Ben Hoffman, who took eighth in a time of 16:41, and Smethport’s Daniel Gregory, who took 12th in a time of 16:53.

GIRLS’ 2A RACE

Pennington was one of two District 9 runners to medal in the girls’ Class 2A race, as St. Marys’ Amanda Foster finished sixth in a time of 19:08.

GIRLS’ 1A RACE

Rachel Bauer of North Clarion finished 93rd in the girls’ Class 1A race in a time of 21:44, while Haley Bauer was 162nd (23:13) and Clarion’s Katie Craig 160th (23:10).

District 9 had a medalist in Northern Potter’s Danielle Perry. She finished fourth in a time of 19:17.
