Teen Awaiting Preliminary Hearing Following VisionQuest Attack

SANDYCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A teen is awaiting a preliminary hearing on charges that he allegedly assaulted a VisionQuest employee.

Franklin-based State Police filed the following charges against 18-year-old Braheem Allen Benson of Philadelphia:

  • Aggravated Assault, Felony 2
  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
  • Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary
  • Disorderly Conduct Engage In Fighting, Summary

According to a criminal complaint filed by Franklin-based State Police Trooper Cole, the charges stem from an incident on November 8 at the VisionQuest detention center along Hudmont Lane.

Police were dispatched to the facility around 9:38 a.m. for a report of a male staff member being assaulted by a resident.

After the victim told a group of residents to “quiet down,” Benson allegedly punched him with a closed fist on the right side of the face.

Benson was taken into custody on November 8 at 12:35 p.m. and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey.

He was placed in the Venango County Jail after failing to post $25,000.00 cash bail.

A preliminary hearing is slated for November 15 at 8:30 a.m. with Judge Lowrey presiding.
