Both men are free on bail.

On Tuesday, November 14, they waived their preliminary hearings. Their cases were transferred to the Forest County Court of Common Pleas and are working their way through the court system.

According to a criminal complaint, on August 1, around 8:59 p.m., Forest County Detective David Wilson was asked to assist in a felony firearms arrest of Glenn Basil Sr. by Forest County Sheriff’s Deputy Nick Hawk. He stated that he had a visual on the suspect.

The complaint states that Detective Wilson and Chief Deputy Bill Carbaugh joined Hawk and then made a felony traffic stop on Basil Sr. He was taken into custody and then searched. Deputy Hawk found a handful of loose pills and a baggie of pills from Basil Sr.’s front pocket.

Basil Sr. then failed a field sobriety test, and his vehicle was impounded. A Drug Recognition Expert was requested to evaluate Basil Sr., according to the complaint.

Detective Wilson then received permission from Basil Sr. to search his residence located at 110 Basil Lane in Kingsley Township for more firearms that he said he had in his house, the complaint indicates.

When Detective Wilson and Chief Deputy Carbaugh arrived at Basil’s residence, they encountered Glenn Basil Jr. who waited on the couch while they searched the home. Basil Jr. was asked if there were any firearms in the house, and he said that there were, the complaint states.

Additionally, when Basil Jr. was asked if there were any weapons in his immediate vicinity, he replied that there were. The officers found two loaded handguns under the couch cushion. Two more firearms were found within reach an organ bench. When approaching Basil Jr.’s bedroom, Detective Wilson smelled marijuana. He also located long guns in the room, according to the complaint.

Basil Jr. said there were more guns in his father’s bedroom. Wilson saw firearms on the bed and a gun safe in the room, the complaint continues.

Detective Wilson then had Chief Deputy Carbaugh look above the gun safe for more firearms. Detective Wilson then found what he believed to be a pipe used to smoke drugs, and it had residue on it. He then decided it was time to apply for a search warrant, the complaint states.

At 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 2, District Judge Dan Miller signed the search warrant for the residence at 110 Basil Lane and Detective Reitz, Detective Wilson, and four members of the state Attorney General’s Office searched the residence, the complaint indicates.
