Two Dead in Suspected Murder-Suicide in Venango County

VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — State police are investigating a suspected homicide/suicide that occurred Saturday morning on Titusville Road, in Oil Creek Township, Venango County.

Franklin-based State Police are investigating two deaths that were discovered around 10:19 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, at 23528 Titusville Road, in Oil Creek Township.

According to police, the investigation revealed that 58-year-old Sally J. Nichols was discovered deceased inside her vehicle from an apparent gunshot wound which was on the left portion of her chest area. The firearm that was used in the commission of this incident was recovered by PSP members in close proximity to the victim and vehicle, lying outside the vehicle in the driveway.

As the investigation continued, PSP members made entry into the residence where they discovered 61-year-old Allen D. Nichols in his bedroom. Mr. Nichols had an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. The firearm that was used in the commission of this incident was recovered by PSP members inside the bedroom in close proximity to Mr, Nichols, police say.

PSP members are currently handling this investigation as a homicide/suicide.

This investigation will continue, as no new information will be released at this time.
