No New Taxes in Paint Township’s Proposed 2018 Budget

PAINT TWP., Pa. (EYT) — The Paint Township supervisors met for their monthly meeting Monday night. The group unanimously voted to publish the proposed budget for public review.

According to Secretary Jacqui Blose, “Nothing has changed.” There will be no tax increase.

The supervisors discussed a request from Rail 66, asking the township to send written permission to PennDOT to allow trail signage. While the supervisors were agreeable to permitting signs, there was concern about the cost and who is responsible for financing them. The issue was tabled until more information is obtained.

Blose explained to the group that new legislation — Act 42 — authorizes mini-casinos to be erected in the state of Pennsylvania. There is a brief window until December 31 for municipalities to give a written resolution prohibiting the construction of such facilities. Chairman Jeff Corcetti moved to refrain from making such a resolution. Roger Shingledecker seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously.

The next regular meeting of the Paint Township supervisors will be held December 18 at 5:30 p.m.
