Calvin R. Urey

Calvin R. Urey, 88, of Titusville, passed away Tuesday morning November 21, 2017, at Titusville Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

Calvin was born on February 9, 1929, in Oil City, PA, a son of the late John Francis and Martha Mildred Lokey Urey. He was married to Gertrude Bradybaugh on November 7, 1958 at Clymer, NY. She preceded him in death on June 12, 2009.

Calvin was a graduate of Oil City High School, class of 1948.

He was a veteran having served in the US Navy.

He entered the service on July 15, 1948, and was honorably discharged on July 8, 1952.

Calvin was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW and of the Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion. He was a former member of the Moose Club, Oil City Lodge #78.

He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, camping, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Steelers fan.

He is survived by the following children; Tom Urey and wife Toni of Titusville, Linda Burrows and husband Dan of Oil City, John Urey and companion Jackie of West Middlesex, Tammy Urey and companion Forest of Weed, CA, Rhonda Cannon and husband George of Farrell, and Sandy Benbrook and husband Marv of Westminster, CO; grandchildren, T.J. Williams, Steven Williams and wife Heidi, Tiffany Kinney, Timmy Urey, Angel Urey, Tonia Urey and husband Steven, Calvin Urey and companion Trish, Charlie Urey and wife Jill, John Urey and companion Sandy, Darren Pyle, Jr., James Swindahl and wife Brianna, Shelly McKnight and husband Tieon, Gretchen Shambaugh and husband Dave, Tylor Daugherty and wife Shelby, and Warren Benbrook; numerous great grandchildren; a great great grandson; and two nieces, Susan First of Hadley and Cathy Fuller of Paul Smith, NY.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Urey and a sister, Betty Lou Andrews.

No public calling hours will be observed. Services will be private.

The family asks that memorials be made to the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW 206 St. John Street Titusville, PA 16354 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Interment will be in Jamison Corners Cemetery.
