William “Bill” Lee Schoen

20171122171228_00001AWilliam “Bill” Lee Schoen, age 86, of Sigel, PA, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, as a patient of the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital.

Bill was born on February 2, 1931, to the late Jacob and Margaret (Simmers) Schoen, in Natrona Heights, PA.

Bill was married to Carole Ann (Gamble) Schoen for over 50 years before her passing on February 15, 2013; they were married in Springdale, PA. Bill attended school at the Harbrack High School in Natrona Heights. After his time spent in school, he joined the United States Navy serving on the USS Princeton and the USS Norris. Immediately after being honorably discharged from military service, he began working for Allegheny Ludlum Steel Mill. He worked for this company for over 42 years before retiring when he was in his mid-sixties. Bill was an active and engaged member of the Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church in Sigel, PA.

He was always willing to volunteer in the sharing of his time and talents in helping the church with additions, repairs, or whatever other capacity was needed. He served within the Sigel municipality in various positions and he was also a member of the Sigel Sportsman’s Club. Bill loved to hunt, and he was known for the prize-winning buck’s he would shoot. He loved to hunt all animals in every season and how this afforded him the opportunity to be outdoors. He spent some time coaching the swim team in Brookville and no matter how busy he was, he always had time for and fully supported his grandchildren. He also had deep concern for his nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.

Bill is survived by his daughter Lisa E. Harmon and her 3 children; Joshua James (Alona) D’Ambrosio, Jeremy Jacob D’Ambrosio, Nicole Lee Harmon; his daughter Patricia (Gary) Marshall and their daughter Melissa Marshall; his son Bill Jr. (Shirley) Schoen and their sons and daughter; Michael, Douglas, and Kaitlyn Schoen; and by 2 great-grandchildren; Cooper and Leia Schoen.

In addition to his wife and parents, Bill is preceded in death by 2 brothers; James Schoen and John Schoen. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017, at the Mount Tabor Cemetery in Eldred Twp., Jefferson Co., PA, beginning at 2:00pm, and officiated by Pastor Boyd Edmundson.
