Zelda M. Smith

ThumbnailZelda M. Smith, 83, of Venus went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday morning, November 26, 2017 at Shippenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.

Born on March 26, 1934in Farmington Township, Clarion County, daughter to Edward E. and Elsie Armstrong. At the age of six, she and her sister Maxine, along with three brothers, Arthur, Robert, and George, and half-brother Franklin became wards of the county.

She was adopted by George and Marna Williams and became Zelda Marie Williams on June 3, 1941 and grew up in Shippenville with her step-brother Bill.

Zelda graduated from Shippenville High School in 1953, the worked in the shoe department at Wein Brothers Store in Clarion.

She was also employed at the Owens-Illinois glass plant in Clarion in the selecting department and over the years wrapped meat at the Clarion Frozen Food Locker.

She was a member of the First Church of God of Clarion, now Trinity Point.

She enjoyed family and friends, spending time playing games, cooking, baking, gardening, and canning.

Making candy for the Christmas and Easter seasons for others brought her great joy.

On September 19, 1953, she married Kenneth A. Smith who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Tamara L. Schwab, and husband John, of Oil City, Allan K. Smith, and wife Donna, of Shippenville, James A. Smith, and wife Julie, of Franklin, and Donald E. Smith, of Kennerdell.

She has seven grandchildren, Cody Schwab, and wife Krista, of Seneca, Ashleigh Osborne, and husband Tyler, of Kennerdell, Kyle Smith, of Pittsburgh, Hannah Smith, of Franklin, Danielle Smith, of Oil City, Jacqueline Hoffman, and husband Dustin, of Fryburg, and Tyler Smith, and wife Tierney, of Ellwood City. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, Colton, Clayton and Maria Schwab, Oakleigh, MaKenleigh and Coraleigh Osborne, Aliyha Hoffman, Colton, Calista and Cassandra, and Matthew.

In addition, Zelda is survived by a sister, Maxine Himes, and husband Lewis, of Fairmount City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her adopted parents.

The status of her other siblings is unknown.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Wilson of Trinity Point Church of God officiating.

Interment will be in the Venus Cemetery.
