pa state policeOLIVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State police are investigating an incident of attempted homicide stemming from an assault that occurred on Tuesday afternoon at a residence located in Oliver Township, Jefferson County.

Punxsutawney-based State Police responded to a residence in Oliver Township for a domestic altercation around 1:30 p.m. on December 5.

Police say the victim – a 48-year-old Punxsutawney woman – was stabbed in the shoulder with a steak knife and struck on the head several times by a known, 15-year-old Punxsutawney male juvenile.

It was determined that the 15-year-old male heard voices in his head that instructed him to kill the woman, according to police.

The victim is receiving treatment at Allegheny General Hospital and is in stable condition.

The juvenile is currently being treated at Children’s Hospital pending a mental health evaluation.

An arrest warrant for the juvenile was obtained for Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, and related charges.

The investigation is currently ongoing by Trooper Weaver and members of Punxsutawney-based State Police.

Updates will be provided by state police as information on this incident further develops, according to police.
