Two Knox Men Waive Hearings in Venango County Drug Case

VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — Two Knox men facing felony drug charges in connection with an undercover drug sting in Venango County waived their preliminary hearings on Wednesday.

According to court documents, the cases against 32-year-old Robert J. Elder, of Knox, and 29-year-old Anthony James Knight, of Knox, have been transferred to Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

Elder’s bail type was changed to unsecured, and he was released on Wednesday, December 6.

Knight’s bail was also changed to unsecured, and he will be taken back to Clarion County where he faces additional drug charges.

The Punxsutawney-based State Police Vice Unit filed charges against both men on November 8 at District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office in Seneca.

Robert J. Elder is facing the following charges:

– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Criminal Conspiracy Engaging – Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Criminal Use Of Communication Facility, Felony 3

Anthony James Knight is facing the following charges:

– Criminal Conspiracy Engaging – Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony

According to a criminal complaint filed November 8, the charges stem from a controlled drug buy on July 28, 2016, at an undisclosed location near the Emlenton Truck Plaza.

The criminal complaint indicates that Anthony Knight allegedly sold six stamp bags of heroin for $100.00 to a confidential informant. The drug buy was observed by multiple officers.

Police say the drugs were logged into evidence and later tested positive for heroin.

According to the criminal complaint, police spoke with Knight on November 7 at the Clarion County Jail, and he admitted that he delivered the heroin for Robert Elder.

Knight is also facing drug charges in Clarion County. He is one of sixteen people charged in a street-level drug sweep. His preliminary hearing is scheduled Tuesday, December 12.

The Venango County cases are currently working their way through the court system.
