Lois O20171208_17043503_0360Mrs. Lois A. (Silvis) Ouellette, 87, of Marienville, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was called home to our Lord Jesus Christ on December 8, 2017 at the Brookville Hospital.

She was born March 4, 1930 in Greenwood (Barnett) Township.  She was the daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Huckabone) Silvis.

She attended Greenwood, Redclyffe, and Clarington grammar schools and graduated from Sigel High School in 1948.

She worked at Ghering Park Diner in Clarion and also at the Vowinckel Restaurant.

She was brought up in the Methodist faith and belonged to the Marienville and Greenwood Methodist Churches.  In later years, she joined St. Ann’s Mission, returning to Greenwood Church in 2015.  For many years she shared her piano talent at Clarington and Greenwood Methodist Churches.

She was past Worthy Matron of Forest Chapter #482 OES (1963-1964) and past Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Girls (1963).  Lois was also past President of MACA and of the Marienville Senior Center for over 20 years, and a member of the Marienville Medical Center.  She also started a kitchen band (Recycled Teenagers) in 1995, which she had for over 20 years.

She married Thomas G. Ouellette on January 23, 2010; he survives her.  She was also the wife of the late Robert Chandler for 40 years and the wife of the late Clarence Nuhfer.

In addition to her husband, Lois is survived by a sister, June Kelly of McMurray, PA; a brother, Neil Silvis and his wife Joyce of Brookville, PA; two sons, Barry Chandler and his wife Lynn of Charlotte, NC and Timothy Chandler and his  wife Maria of Aiken, SC; two grandsons, Jordan and Ryan Chandler of NC;  three granddaughters, Stefanie Holder (William) of SC, Sarah McCoy (Mitch) of SC, and Morgan Chandler of NC; and four great-grandchildren, Kyle Chandler, Concetta Holder, Colissa McCoy, and Riley McCoy of SC.

She is also preceded in death by her siblings Donna Motter and Harry, Paul, and Max Silvis.

Friends and family will be received on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 1-3 PM and 6-8 PM at the Furlong Funeral Home, 140 Cherry Street, Marienville, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 11 AM at the Greenwood United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dan Richter officiating.  A visitation will be held prior from 10-11 AM at the church.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Greenwood Cemetery Association.

Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
