Man Accused of Huffing and Driving in Monroe Township

MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A 33-year-old man is in jail after he was charged with huffing and driving in Monroe Township, Clarion County.

According to court documents, criminal charges were filed against Kenneth Martin Butcher, address unknown.

Court documents indicate that the following charges were ordered held for court on December 4 by District Judge Timothy Schill:

– DUI: Controlled Substance-Impaired Ability — First Offense, Misdemeanor
– DUI: Solvent or Noxious Substance — First Offense, Misdemeanor
– Smell/Inhale Toxic Releasing Substances, Misdemeanor 3
– Turning Movements and Required Signals, Summary (two counts)
– Careless Driving, Summary
– Restrictions on Alcoholic Beverages, Summary

According to a criminal complaint, on June 10, 2017, Clarion-based State Trooper Patrick Berggren stopped a 2005 Nissan Sentra driven by Kenneth Butcher and discovered that he was allegedly driving under the influence.

After three tests, Butcher showed signs of being intoxicated on all three. Trooper Knight then performed tests on Butcher, and he also determined he was under the influence, the complaint states.

Butcher allegedly admitted to buying duster earlier in the day. Trooper Berggren removed eight cans of duster from the vehicle with one having been used, the complaint indicates.

Butcher was then arrested and taken to the Clarion Hospital where he agreed to a blood test requested by Troper Berggren. Testing showed Butcher has three times the legal limit of difluoroethane in his system, indicating he was very intoxicated, according to the complaint.

Butcher remains in the Clarion County Jail after failing to post $5,000.00 cash bail.

A formal arraignment is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on February 7 with Judge James G. Arner presiding.
