McLaughlin, John Obit PhotoJohn Henry McLaughlin, age 66, of Brookville, PA, passed away in the comfort of his home on Monday, December 4, 2017.

John and his twin brother James were born on September 7, 1951, to the late James M. and Minnie May (Reynolds) McLaughlin, at Bashline Memorial Hospital in Grove City, PA.

From Pardoe PA, John attended the Mercer Elementary School. Then from Barkeyville, PA, he attended Victory School in Nectarine, PA, and eventually graduating from the Franklin Area High School with the class of 1969. He also attended a Technical School in Alexandria Virginia after graduation. John worked for Acme Pony Farm until he joined the Marine Corp, receiving a general discharge. He was married to Kathleen Ann (Teacher) McLaughlin, who preceded him in passing on October 24, 2014. He was a member of the Grove City Masonic Lodge, #603, Ducks Unlimited, Trout Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, and the Isaac Walton League of America (Fly Fishing). In his younger years, John enjoyed the Scouting program, both Cub and Boy Scouts. He played Baseball, loved being outdoors, and involved in outdoor clubs, and he played the Trombone in band.

John spent most of his working life in the Lumbering Industry. He worked various positions for different companies throughout the years. Most recently, he worked for Giant Eagle in Brookville, PA. This is a job he loved and would even spend some of his time off at the store.

He also loved having and raising dogs, with his most recent four-legged friend being named Wilbur.

In addition to his twin brother, James (Susan) McLaughlin, John is survived by 2 nieces; Julie and Heather; 3 great-nieces; Avarea, Alaina, and Rylee; 1 great-great-niece; Sophiya; 2 nephews; Troy and Austin; 5 great-nephews; Bryant, Braidon, Ian, Silas, and Aris. John and Kathleen never had children of their own, and they loved their nieces and nephews dearly.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, December 11, 2017, from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11:00am, and officiated by Rev. Nathan Royster. Interment will take place at the Riggs Cemetery, Warsaw Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
