Clarion Township Supervisors’ Meeting: Retirement Announced, Budget Approved, Voted ‘No’ to Casinos

CLARION TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Monday evening’s Clarion Township meeting was brief, but the supervisors did vote on a few important items, and one announcement was made.

The township is looking for a new roadmaster as Bergen Dilley (pictured above) announced his retirement and will be done on December 31.

“It’s going to be kind of weird with Bergen not working here,” Township Secretary Karen Wilson said. “I’ve personally known him a long time, and he’s been on the job just shy of 40 years.”

Wilson said Dilley will continue to serve as a supervisor until at least 2020 when his current term expires.

According to Karen Wilson, Supervisors Dilley, Frank Wilson, and Robert Deemer approved the 2018 budget.

It will be $580,647.00, similar to the 2017 budget.

The supervisors also adopted the resolution to prohibit gambling casinos in the township.

Secretary Karen Wilson said the supervisors weren’t closing the door on the possibility of allowing a casino to operate in the township in the future, but they’d like to have more information about it.

“If it’s something that could bring money to the township, we should do it, but at this point, we want to know more about it,” Wilson said.
